1. CONFERENCE LANGUAGE
The official language of the Training and Symposium is English. No simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
2. REGISTRATION AND ACCREDITATION
All delegates attending the Meeting will require prior registration. To register, follow the link.
3. WIFI USE AT SYMPOSIUM VENUE
Free WIFI is available at the Symposium Venue, and accessible to all Delegates. Login details will be provided at Registration.
4. HOSPITALITY
On the 21 September 2023, there will be a Cocktail reception from 18h30. The venue will be communicated in due course. Ground transport will be made available for delegates attending the reception. Please register your attendance to the reception via email with Ms Kavirindi: Florence.Kavirindi@mheti.gov.na.
5. FLIGHTS AND GROUND TRANSPORT (AIRPORT TRANSFERS)
Delegates are responsible for their own flight reservations, and are advised to book their flights to land at the Walvis Bay International Airport. All delegates will be received by designated Government officials with AfriGEO Board cards at the Walvis Bay Airport.
Ground transport will be provided upon arrival at the Walvis Bay airport.
Please note that ground transport will consist of pick-up from airport to the hotel, as well as from the hotel to the airport and between hotel and the symposium venue. Ground transport will also be provided for the evening of the cocktail dinner from hotel or symposium venue.

6. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All international delegates travelling to the Symposium are to land at the Walvis Bay Airport and should be in possession of a valid passport, travel document and visa (if required). It is strongly recommended that delegates who require visa to enter Namibia should apply for them at the Namibian Consulates in their respective countries. Further information on visa applications can be found on the website for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security: www.mha.gov.na.
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if the passenger has departed from/ transited through a yellow fever endemic country.
7. WEATHER
It will be summer season in Namibia during the week of 18-23 September 2023. The weather forecast for 18-23 September 2023 in Swakopmund is estimated to be between 10 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius (minimum in the morning) as well as between 20 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius (maximum in the afternoon). This link provides an indicative weather forecast for the period of the Training and Symposium.
Just remember to dress in warm layers, as it can still get pretty chilly.
8. ELECTRICITY/VOLTAGE
The voltage throughout Namibia is 220V/50Hz. Most plugs are 15 amp 3-prong or 5 amp 2-prong, in both cases with round pins.
If you are bringing any electrical appliances, you are advised to bring an adapter. Most hotels have 110 volt outlets for electric shavers and appliances. Adapters can be bought at the airport upon arrival.
9. MEDICAL SERVICE
Travel insurance covering accidents, illness or hospitalization during your stay is strongly recommended. Secretariat will be able to facilitate access to medical care for delegates when needed.
10. SMOKING
Smoking is prohibited in public spaces in Namibia, and is restricted to specific areas, where indicated.
11. INTERNATIONAL CALLS
Namibian mobile telephone service providers are MTC and TN Mobile. To obtain a sim card (from any shopping outlet), the following will be needed: Identity document (passport) and proof of residence.
